Aloha also means goodbye

And today we said goodbye to the island of Oahu.
It was incredible being in Hawaii and I am looking forward to my next trip back...whenever that may be.

The Local crew that we had working on the show were wonderful to be and work with .
Special aloha to Charlie Kaeo who had shown us that the true spirit of aloha is love and family.
Charlie is a very special person who's love of life spreads to all who come in contact with him.

As much as I didn't want to leave the island...I am glad to be back on the mainland and am looking forward to getting the repack done tomorrow and being home on Thursday.

See y'all soon!

Gone!

Almost down! (Those of you who know me won't be surprised to know that I easily took 80 or so shots of this sunset alone!)

Pretty much in the center of the picture...the shorter hotel in front of the black building with the white downward stripes with the circular windows is the Coral Reef Hotel...my balcony is the third one on the right (the last one that you can see) on the top floor.

I have limited time...

...but I'll try to make the best of it in between the overheating and shutting down of my computer and the spotty Internet wireless signal that I am connected by.

I'll try and include some pics along the way...but first just to let you know what I've been up to these past few days...

Hawaii is incredibly gorgeous! Although I should say Oahu...because I haven't even made it off this island to go to any other...but what diversity there is on this island alone...I have enjoyed the urbanity of Waikiki and the beaches on the southern shore. I have hiked to the top of DiamondHead (which I can see from my 15th floor balcony). I have played in the swells along the eastern coast (my first time actually swimming in the ocean here)...Snorkeled on the southern shore near the SouthWest point of Oahu and on the North Shore (which only has the BIG waves in winter)...partied on a huge sand bar (not a place that serves liquor...but and actual sand bar...don't worry, we brought our own drinks) along the north Shore...and while there I snorkled by a reef with some huge turtles and even came face to face (albiet at a distance) with a hammerhead shark! I didn't know that they're not man-eaters...if so I would have lingered long enough to at least take a picture with the underwater instant camera that I had gotten. All I knew was that I was too far away from the boat at that point...

It is breathtaking...and I will be sad on Tuesday when I head back to the mainland, but I am looking forward to repacking the trucks and making my way home.

I have rented a mo-ped and am having fun scooting around the south shore and driving to work every day...what a way to get around!

Hopefully I can wake up early enough to go snorkling in a bay on the East Shore and the make it to work by 9:30...we'll see...I HAVE to use up the exposures on that underwater camera.

Anyhow...I'll try and upload some pics now...hope to see y'all when I get home.

Aloha!

I'm Drunk...

...I wish that there was a better way to put this...but there's not.
Went out to visit the North Shore today and stopped at Shark's Cove and Matsumoto's Shaved Ice (supposedly highlighted on the Travel Channel alot)...it was very yummy.
Anyhow, we came back early to go on a "Booze Cruise" to help celebrate Casey Gray's birthday (which was actually yesterday)...yes Casey...if you Google yourself again, THIS page will now come up. The cruise was phenomenal (I think I spelled that right...and frankly, I'm amazed!). I was laying on the netting in the middle of the front of a catamaran getting soaked by the ocean waters (I'm still a little damp)...and had my share of Mai Tai's and Coor's Light...strange combo...but it worked for me. Had a fabulous time...I'm looking forward to going back at least another time or two before I have to come home.

Aloha

Well...I have made it to Hawaii!
Everything went well and I am looking out of my balcony on the 15th floor in beautiful Waikiki.
I will try and update the blog when I can...but am having some notebook overheating issues since my cooling fan is no longer working.
Hope that everyone is doing well and I'll be back home in just over two weeks!
Looking forward to catching up while I'm home.

Mobile, AL

Mobile, AL is an interesting and nice town...but it feels at times like it is stuck in the 50's...not that that's a bad thing. We played Mobile for two days as the beginning of a split week. On Monday, after traveling from Baton Rouge, my roommate Andy and I went out to a very good Thai restaurant. After dinner Andy went back to the hotel...and I went exploring...shocker, eh?

I ended up finding the Science Center which had the traveling exhibit of the Dead Sea Scrolls...they were very interesting to look at and the presentation was very well done. After that I walked around some more and found our venue where part of our crew was doing a pre-rig setup. One thing that I can say about the venue...It was certainly the roundest place that I have been in...after walking back to the hotel a group of us went to a local brew pub for dinner.

After our shows on Tuesday, I went out looking to get a Budweiser baby bottle that I had seen on a bar's ad poster...but it was made up by the bar...but I stuck around and did some karoke.

On our last night in Mobile...pretty much the whole company ended up at a "happy little establishment" for a rousing night of karoke and cheap beer!

NEWSFLASH!

I have be offered to remain at the same position for next year's tour of Elmo's Coloring Book.
So, for another 10 months I'll be travelling the country (or at least mostly the East Coast) as the Wardrobe Assistant starting in August.

Also, I will be returning home on June 30th at 11:48 PM.

I've been reminded...

...that even though at times I feel like I'm simply ranting when I post on the blog, that there are actually some people who are checking on my blog to see if I've posted something new...and that some actually enjoy reading what comes flying out of my fingertips. At least some of the time...

So, I apologize for not updating the blog in a more timely fashion.
And will work on getting caught up.
